After the release of her last album –…oneirograph…v.5.spindle : live in italy-, the composer Anna Stereopoulou presents her new album, titled A ∞ [aleph / infinity], with which she is challenging the listener to taste an audio path through the dark reflections and crystal coordinates of our necessity for inner and social revision.
The album is digitally released on the Spanish music platform SevenMoons and its title is inspired by the short story The Aleph, written in 1945 by the Argentine short-story writer, essayist, poet and translator Jorge Luis Borges. The release date for A ∞ is the same as the Argentine writer’s birthday (August 24, 1899 – Buenos Aires, Argentina) and due to this, Anna Stereopoulou wishes to thank him for the constant reminders, to be found throughout his work, of the value and meaning of life.

The album consists of 7 tracks, composed during 2012-2013 and commissioned for collaborations with various artists worldwide, as well as out of the need to express inner feelings and visions. The pieces are based on the composer’s main ‘voice’ and influences (piano, jazz, psychedelic and other elements), however the included music explores a diversity of ‘sonic perspectives’ and techniques, reverberating the ‘stereoscopic’ character of Anna Stereopoulou‘s work. Her album A ∞ functions as a bridge connecting her latest released project (…oneirograph…v.5.spindle : live in italy | March 27, 2013) and upcoming album (electron | November 23, 2017).

The Aleph
[1945]
Jorge Luis Borges [24 August 1899 – 14 June 1986]

“I saw the circulation of my own dark blood;
I saw the coupling of love and the modification of death;
I saw the Aleph from every point and angle,
and in the Aleph I saw the earth and in the earth the Aleph and in the Aleph the earth;
I saw my own face and my own bowels;
I saw your face; and I felt dizzy and wept,
for my eyes had seen that secret and conjectured object, whose name is common to all men,
but which no man has looked upon — the Unimaginable Universe.”

the well venter

Inspired by the music Anna Stereopoulou was commissioned to compose for J. M. Synge‘s theatrical play “The Well of the Saints“. [An OISTROS Team production; Presented at METAXOURGEIO Theatre, Athens – Greece, March-April 2012]. The title is also inspired by the play’s title and creates a pun, based on the play’s story and setting, as well as the sound effects used and triggered.

ray matter
The present music was commissioned by the French poet Nicolas Grenier, in August 2012, as a music accompaniment for his poem “Marrakech Below the Waterline – Schweppes Symphony“. [A ‘spoken’ version is available to listen to, here ] All sounds have been synth generated and part of Anna Stereopoulou’s composition “MiniM” (for Solo ‘Cello) has been included. Special effects / filters were also used to the present music track.

71° 10′ 21”
The piece shifts between sub and high frequencies and draws a route of crispy and frosty harmonics towards an echoing inner warmth, offering the opportunity to the listener to create their own map; to explore their own place and/in space. Composed in January 2013 and included in the SevenMoons Music Platform ORIGEN vvaaCompilation [March 2013].

free voice
Free Voice -original title “anaSynthesis”- was composed (June 11, 2013) for the animation, designed by Francis Etto. The work reflects both artists’ solidarity with each worker and person with a Vision and a Dream, all people fighting for their Human Rights and Resisting -against suppression, injustice, silencing and violence- with a Loud, Clear and Sincere Voice.
Morse Code included in the music composition: Free Voice: ..-. .-. . . / …- — .. -.-. .
